Brief Answer:
Prescription medicines.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Loratidine or fexofenadine are very effective antiallergics that do not usually make you drowsy. But these are prescription medicines and you would need to get them written by your doctor.

Let me know if I could help further.

Can you use both Benadryl and Loratindine(Claritin) in case Ihave swelling after taking the 24 hour meds. How soon does Loratindine work ? Does it act like a preventative? I have no congestion. Just mucus and ear canal throat and lips. No watery eyes or sneezing.

Brief Answer:
Can be taken.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. You can use both together but I do not think it to be needed. Besides, continuing to take benadryl will forsake the purpose of the switch over. Loratidine will help in reducing the allergic reaction underlying the swelling. Since the event has already occurred, prevention is inapplicable. However, it will prevent further worsening.
