Question: I am a diabetic and I was standing for about 30 minutes. When I sat down my lower right leg was swollen. I propped my leg on a pillow. The swelling did go down but I have a hard red knot about the size of a half dollar that is a little swollen

Brief Answer:
control of diabetes to prevent neuropathy and bruises

Detailed Answer:
hi
You did a right thing by raising the foot over pillows
what is your blood sugar report? if diabetes is under control then nothing to worry but if not, then chances peripheral neuropathy to develop is there, in which loss of sensations, tingling, numbness pain may be the symptoms.Often a minor hurt by bump or something goes unnoticed in diabetics and may have caused a mild bruise or contusion and reactionary swelling on standing through gravitational collection of oedema in soft tissues.
You may recheck with your doctor to asess the nature of unilateral foot swelling, the red knot that you say- if inflamed, application of anti-inflammatory gel can be used if he may consider it worth using
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
