Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Ankles And Feet

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2017
Question: I'm 84 years old and I've had swollen ankles, calves and feet for about 2 weeks. As of today the swelling also appears to be inflamed, and my lower legs are noticeably pink in comparison to the rest of my leg. Over a week ago my Cardiologist told me to take diuretics and I have been taking these ever since. It is not getting better, only worse, and now with the red appearance I am becoming alarmed. I'm not even sure what type of doctor is best suited to handle my problem. I am debating whether or not to go to a hospital Emergency Room and get another opinion (its Sunday night, and no reputable Urgent Care is currently open). Also, I have been treated for regular bouts with AFIB for several years now. Thank you, please advise.

Brief Answer:
Must visit Emergency Room.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your query.

Symptoms you are explaining shouldn't be ignored.

In my opinion you are developing DVT.

I advise you to visit emergency room as soon as possible, whether its has good reputation or average.

You need complete physical check up.

Doctor may advise you ECG, colour doppler for lower limbs, certain blood tests.

Only then you treatment can be initiated.

Avoid any type of home remedy, it will not help.

Till then elevate your limb to avoid further swelling.

I hope you have got your answer.

Thanks,
