Question: I have stiffness and swelling in the back of one knee... could this be from a Baker's cyst or just my normal arthritis?

I have examined many patients having problems similar to what you are having.

It is important to do a clinical examination for any swelling in the popliteal fossa, the region behind the knee. Bakers cyst is a common benign lesion in the back of the knee if there is a swelling due to a collection which is communicating with the knee joint. It can gt inflamed and then it causes pain and discomfort. Bakers cyst can occur due to arthritis and is associated with it.

I recommend that you please get an ultrasound scan popliteal fossa done and if required then a MRI scan will give complete details of the likely Bakers cyst.
