Suggest Treatment For Superficial Wound In Mouth

default
Posted on Mon, 11 May 2015
Question: My friend shoved his hand in my mouth very forcefully and immediate pain occurred. I had a look and there was some blood and a large gash on my frenulum. The "string" that attatched my tongue to my mouth is gone. I do not know what to do. Will it heal? There is immense amount of pain and when I felt the bottom of my tongue with the tip of my tongue, the bottom part of the string wasn't there. As you can see in the picture, the wound is at the bottom, we asked another doctor and he said, "if duct of sublingual is safe, do not worry" i looked up the gland and i am pretty sure i still have it intact. I am still producing saliva very well if that is what it means. please help, thank you.

Brief Answer:
do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to healthcaremagic,

I have seen the picture you posted.

The wound appears to be superficial, so do not worry, It will heal soon.

You can use any pain killers like Tylenol or ibuprofen after checking the dose appropriate for you.

Remember to gargle with chlorhexidene mouth wash 3 times daily for 4 days.

Brief Answer:
Can try ibuprofen or naproxen (if pain is bad)

Detailed Answer:
I am sorry for replying late as I was busy with other professional obligations. It is better to see the doctor sooner. Regarding the second question, you can try ibuprofen twice daily (if pain is mild to moderate) and naproxen twice daily (if pain is bad).

Take care
