Question: We are in XXXXXXX visiting our four year old grand child and his two year old brother. We are baby sitting our newest qaddition to our family a 3 month girl. When we arrived last night we were told our oldest grandson had a test for strep throat on Monday and it was negative. On Friday the Dr. called back to report the strep culture had come back positive and he was started on antibiotics. How should we proceed? We had only a stort interaction with the infected boy when we arrivved. We certainly do not want to take this infection back to our new grand daughter who is in good health. Should we continue our visit. Thank You!

Brief Answer:
Can continue your visit and follow the advice below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the medical history of your grandson and understood your concern.

Having a positive strep culture means that your grandson is having a throat infection caused by pathogenic bacteria called streptococcus.

This bacteria can be spread through infected saliva, or airborne droplets, sharing food or drinks with infected person.

If you keep the room or house well ventilated, and keep the baby away from infected grandson, then you can stay and continue your visit. Otherwise, should leave.

Wish fast recovery.
