Question: My 12 year old son has strep throat and I just noticed a rash on his bottom...he also has a few fever blisters on his lip...is this normal? Is this from the strep or could it be from the antibiotic?

Brief Answer:
Rash may be seen in Strep throat infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,

Strep throat is most common in young children and adolescents and it is highly contagious. The symptoms like running nose, cough, hoarse voice, muscle aches and oral blisters may be seen with a laboratory confirmed strep throat infection.

It is important to note that while most patients with strep throat will experience these signs and symptoms but not all will necessarily be present in each individual.

You need to give him plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. I would suggest you to take him to an pediatrician as he requires a course of antibiotics like Tab Augmentin, which is available only with the prescription.Over-the-counter (OTC) medications, such as ibuprofen can be used to provide pain relief for the sore throat.
Thank you.
