Suggest Treatment For Stomach Discomfort In A Obese Person

Question: Since early December 2014 I've been experiencing a mild case of urticaria and angioedema in my lips, on and off. At the same time, I also had some abdominal discomfort that was continuous for 3 days, and then subsided. I put it down to trapped wind and even took some anti-wind tablets once or twice.

During the rest of December the stomach trouble was there but much less severe and intermittent. It would be an exaggeration to call it pain; it was more of a gnawing feeling - kind of like but slightly worse than when you haven't eaten all day. It seemed to be worse on an empty stomach and felt better after eating, but soon after I would burp more than I usually would for about an hour. Fortunately all these symptoms appear to have gone now.

I have taken loratidine (10mg) some days when the urticaria flared up. Fortunately the angioedema has gone but I have a few hives here and there.

In early January I went to see my doctor who ordered a test for h. pylori and some blood tests (FBC, glucose, kidney function, liver function, amylase, Vit B12). I'm still waiting for the results of the h. pylori, but I was disturbed to discover that my liver enzyme ALT was slightly raised to 54. All the other tests, including the liver panel tests were normal.

I am female, 43, obese, but have been on a restricted carbohydrate diet for a couple of years which has resulted in some weight loss and stabilisation. Non-fasting glucose is 5.4. Last time I had a cholesterol test it was under 5.0. I drink but not heavily (usually weekends although my consumption increased over Christmas).

I've now been referred for more blood tests.
My question is: how worried ought I to be? I'm wondering if the potential stomach bug or antihistamine could have affected my enzymes, or if it really is down to my weight.

Brief Answer:
Nip The Evil Obesity And You have Nothing To Worry About

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

i read your question and i understand your concern. Obesity is the major criminal here. Whether stomach discomfort or burping etc all are attributable to weight. Losing weight will fix most of your problems. So you need not to worry but try losing weight and prefer natural ways like exercise, drinking 2 glasses of cold water before meal, eating fibre and avoiding fats and carbohydrates etc.

As far as the liver enzyme is concerned so that is just upper limit of normal. These are slight variations and also due to weight gain. Nothing to worry about. Obesity gives liver fats too and that causes slight rise in enzymes. Nothing worry about.

Urticaria and hives may erupt spontaneously to many minute triggers. Good that you took loratadine. It shall subside the symptoms soon. Take every 3rd day a holiday for antihistamines. like take on 2 days and don't on 3rd. keep taking until the urticaria is gone fully. if it recurs again it will be wise to sort out the allergen and trigger underneath, a dermatologist could easily narrow the differentials for the urticaria but i am sure it won't come to that.

Nut shell, the pandora's box here is obesity. Get your BMi below 25 and you will have no worries at all. All your worries and symptoms are associated with obesity and reducing weight will poof all the symptoms away.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please
