Suggest Treatment For Stomach Cramps With An Urge To Pass Stool

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Mar 2015
Question: I have been having severe abdominal pain for two weeks and a history of diverticulitis. The pain starts on the right side just inside the hip bone, and then moves to the left.

Recently, the severe pain stopped and I was left with a dull ache. This morning I woke up with dizziness, severe fatigue (I keep falling asleep and I never do that). I have a strange disconnected feeling from my body, not quite numbness, but almost. Slight nausea and tremors.

Stomach cramps and a sudden urge to go with bright orange stool. Fluctuating body temp, 97.4- 99.1, spiking with the stomach cramps.

Brief Answer:
Partial bowels obstruction is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Stomach cramps with an urge to pass stool are characteristic symptoms of partial bowels obstruction. Stool excretion should give a relief in case of an obstruction. There might be a mucus or blood in stool.
Similar symptoms can be also caused by gastrointestinal infection. This is more possible if you have eaten some suspicious food or have been treated with antibiotics recently.

I suggest you to do not wait any longer. Please consult your doctor. Dizziness can be a sign of dehydration what can result with kidney failure. Blood work, abdominal x-ray, abdominal ultrasound and stool tests should be done. Colonoscopy should be scheduled.
In case of infection, antibiotics are necessary along with probiotic. Partial bowels obstructions should be treated with a surgery.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
