Suggest Treatment For Spreading Rashes On Legs And Arms In An Infant

Question:
This just showed up on my 1 year old daughter after I saw a few bumps in her right armpit this afternoon seemingly from nowhere. They kind of looked like bug bites and now this rash has spread since she fell asleep almost 4 hours ago. She's had a cold but I only give her herbs or homeopathics. She's had really none today as she's almost better. No fever. Still sleeping.
This rash is freaking me out a little bit.
She's sleeping pretty soundly but since it's gotten so Much worse since she fell asleep I'm worried to see what it will look like in the morning.

It's spread to both arms, torso, legs and neck. Sorry the pics aren't great but she's sleeping.

Brief Answer:
Urticaria

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.
By what you quote and by what is shown in images.... it should be an urticarial or a simple skin allergy.

You can use Hydroxyzine at 1-2mg/kg/dose every 6th to 8th hourly for 7-10 days. Most important thing to be remembered is that it has a propensity to recur (called as second crop) within 10-14 days.

If this happens, you can start using the same medicine but I suggest you get the kid evaluated with your paediatrician.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.

Brief Answer:
There can be ups and downs in the skin manifestations

Detailed Answer:
Hi...In urticaria or skin allergy there can be ups and downs in the skin manifestations. Nothing to worry about it. The symptoms may suddenly increase and settle down gradually.

THIS IS NOT RELATED TO SLEEP. IN THE NATURAL COURSE OF THE URTICARIA THE BABY IS SLEEPING - THIS IS ALL.

If the baby is otherwise active you need not worry.

I will let you know the danger signs when you need to worry -

1. If there is blood in the motion or urine.
2. If there is sever joint pain or swelling
3. If there is high grade fever
4. If the urine out is too low
5. If the body temperature is very low.
6. if there is noisy breathing or stridor.

If these symptoms develop you need to rush her to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth
