Brief Answer: Internal knee joint injury. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query. You must have hurt your internal structures in knee while playing. There is possibility of ligament, meniscus, capsule or synovial injury. These are best visualized on MRI (Magnetic Resonant Imaging). most likely it is a partial tear as the symptoms are intermittent and are not severe. This often improves with rest and hot fomentation. A pair of elastic knee supports can add to stability. Stretching and strengthening the quadriceps and hamstring muscle groups is critical for proper treatment. Quad sets are done by contraction the thigh muscles while the legs are straight and holding the contraction for a count of 10. Sets of 10 contractions are done between 15-20 times per day.You can do the required exercises under the care of an expert physiotherapist. Get your running shoes examined for proper biomechanical fit. Heat application and use of knee brace is advised for proper knee support at the time of exercise. Avoid such activities as squatting, kneeling, heavy lifting, climbing, etc. Adding glucosamine sulfate as supplement after consulting your orthopedician may help in relieving your symptoms. I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health. Regards. Dr. Praveen Tayal. Hello Dr. Tayal, Thanks for the help. Yes am into exercises and am able to do Leg Extensions, squats and Leg Curl without any issue. For MRI what is a good place to get that done. So once the MRI is done should I go to Ortho? as my experience is that they are not much into any ligament injury and don't know much how to resolve the ligament issue permanently so if there is any sports medicine Doctor that I can get in touch with after MRI Regards XXXX
