Suggest Treatment For Spine Curvature Of A Child

Posted on Mon, 17 Oct 2016
Question: My 8 yr old grandson was found to have a little curvature of the spine last year on a physical that was at a 5. He had his physical this year and has now grown to an 11. He has grown 3 inches this year and is 52 inches tall and in 2nd grade. Could this have any issues with him being thin and tall? They are recommending him to Shriners Hospital. Could this be serious or possibly something they can catch early enough where he has no life issues with this. .He never complains about his back and run and flips and jumps like any 8 yr old boy.
Thank you for your help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.

In cases where the kids are able to function no XXXXXXX as he is, it's typically just something we keep our eyes on during the growth years. It is unlikely, based on what you describe, that anything would have to be done.
