Brief Answer:
depends on length of symptoms

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Smoking is a risk factor for throat cancer and other cancers but if your symptoms are acute (started recently) then it more likely that they are related an acute infection.

Viral infections of the upper respiratory tract (cold or flu virus) would cause sore throat, sweats due to fever, ear pain.
This diagnosis is more likely if your symptoms are recent onset.

In this case, you would consider using oral sprays or gargles to relieve the throat pain.
Pain in the ears can occur due to infection in the ears or due to sinus blockage because of the infection.
You may want to have the ears checked to rule out ear infection. If the ears are infected, antibiotics would be needed.

If your symptoms are long standing, meaning they have been present for weeks to months, then you would want to visit your doctor to rule out more serious causes.

Summary: (1) if symptoms are acute, more likely due to acute infection

(2) if your symptoms have been occurring for a long time then further assessment may be needed.
Causes of long terms symptoms are chronic allergic sinusitis , cancer
