Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat, High Fever And Chills
Question: I came down with flu like symptoms 2 days ago. High fever, very sore throat, chills, body aches. Not sure if this is strep throat or? What should I do? Have been taking Ibuprofin since then, the fever has reduced but I still have a bad sore throat and feel weak. The fever was very high the first day--103+ degrees. I did a tepid bath, stayed in bed and am not sure when or if i should see a doctor. This hit me so fast--I had worked all day and in the evening I just felt bad and by 10pm I was in fever tremors.
My throat does have some white spots in the tonsil area, though I have had my tonsils removed when a child. I am a professional singer (soprano) and am contacting you as it is impossible for me to see a doctor before Monday.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
You have a pharyngitis, a throat infection which is likely to be bacterial rather than viral in view of the high fever, chills and the new white spots.
You could take Betadine gargles and any cephalosporin antibiotic you may have, in addition to ibuprofen you are taking already.
Wish you a quick recovery.
