default
Posted on Tue, 22 Jul 2014
Question: Hi..
I experienced sore throat and difficulty in swallowing on 10th XXXXXXX I started my medication on 11th which went for 3 days, and everything was normal..But the problem resurfaced in 10 days...I again took medication for 5 days this time and got fine..but I am facing the same problem again now, though I dont have much of a problem in swallowing, but I have sore throat (kharaash), and can feel some minor pain in throat when I clear it.....I have not experienced cough any of these 3 times I have mentioned here...!!!..
I have been a regular patient of cough and cold when weather changes..but it has never re-emerged so quickly..
My doctor seems realxed the 2nd time and associated it with throat infection and sore throat..I could not visit him today as I am out of station.
Is there anything to be worried..???
P.S. I smoke average 1-2 buds of cig in a week..
and booze once every 15 days on an average..
Thanks in advance..!!!

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that there is a possibility that you may be having allergic pharyngitis that is leading to recurrent attacks . Instead of repeating antibiotics you should take an antiallergic course as you do not mention the recurrence of fever which would have occured in case of infection. I would advise you to stop smoking for some time as that may be irritating the throat.

Try to keep yourself hydrated and have sips of lukewarm water in between .Add VITAMIN C 1 tab daily for at least 10 days ,it will improve the immunity .Rest I dont think there is anything to worry .
