Suggest Treatment For Sore Operculum Along With Swollen Submandibular Lymphnode

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Jan 2015
Question: I believe I have developed Pericoronitis over the past couple days. My left operculum is sore to the touch and a little sore when I open my mouth but my jaw range is not hindered and I have no difficulty breathing- my airway is totally clear. My left submandibular lymphnode is somewhat swollen and a little sore when I swallow. I cleared a piece of small green debris from between my wisdom tooth and operculum, which was probably there for over a day and may have triggered the symptoms. Is it ok to wait until monday to see a dentist?

Brief Answer:
pericoronitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

According to your description it is a case of pericoronitis.

You are doing the right thing to do lukewarm saline mouth rinse.try to do it 3-5 times.

Mostly your wisdom tooth is still erupting.
If infection is more you can take amoxycillin plus clavulanic acid and metronidazole through prescription.
For pain painkiller with serratiopeptidase can be taken.

Meanwhile try to keep the area clean and you can wait till Monday to visit a dentist.

Hope this answer helps.

Thanks vey much Dr. XXXXXXX The symptoms seem to be improving. Swelling in lymph nodes has gone down. Can I simply treat with warm saline and improved dental hygiene without visiting the dentist?

Brief Answer:
lukewarm saline rinse

Detailed Answer:
Yes you can continue with the warm saline rinse.

If the symptoms have subsided then its good but if it occurs again then you should visit a dentist and get an x ray done.

If you don't have any further query then you can close the discussion and rate the answer.
