default
Posted on Mon, 16 Mar 2015
Question: I am suffering from sore feet which most dr's think is due to my very tight calf muscles. Test from Neurologist says nerves not a factor. But as I undergo PT for "Gastrocnemius Tightness" my feet are now getting hot at night. I need to find the best Podiatrist in Calif. or ck into hospital for a team who can truly diagnose my condition. Cat scan ? No diabeates or tarsal tunnel syptoms present. Please help

Brief Answer:
Can be plantar fasciitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The soreness of the feet can be due to tight muscles, flat feet or inflammation of the plantar fascia.
It is not likely to be due to a nerve related factor. In case it is associated with bodyaches and weakness then serum Vitamin D3 levels also need to be evaluated. The inflammatory changes of the fascia can be detected after an MRI scan.
The treatment usually involves oral anti inflammatory medicines, hot compress and regular physiotherapy. TENS and passive stretching exercises of the feet can help. Give your feet a rest. Cut back on activities that make your feet hurt. Try not to walk or run on hard surfaces. Use shoes with good arch support and a cushioned sole.
I hope this answers your query.
