Brief Answer:
Don't feel inferior these symptoms of social anxiety can be treated

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. First of all I want to tell you that there is nothing irritating or boring in your question. The symptoms you are having are seen in a lot of individuals and there is no need to feel inferior or guilty due to these symptoms. A lot of patients of your age come to my OPD with these symptoms and they show improvement with proper medicines and psychological interventions. So please don't feel bad about yourself.

After reading your history I can come to conclusion that the symptoms you are having are most likely occurring due to Social Anxiety Disorder. In Social anxiety disorder or social phobia individuals start developing the symptoms you are showing. When ever you have to answer any question to any faculty member you develop rapid heart beat, you couldn't able to make a sentence properly. You have difficulty in speaking english also. All these has resulted in significant impairment in your functioning and you cant keep pace with your class and feel yourself inferior to others. The persistent social anxiety has resulted in depression like symptoms like inability to remember what you are reading, inability to understand in class, poor performance in presentations etc.

For the relief of these symptoms and for evaluation I would advise you to go to a psychiatrist. One thing you should keep in mind that English is not your mother tongue and even if you are not fluent in english there should be no inferiority feelings for that. Your main aim should be to remember your subject and if you can remember your subject properly then you would not suffer any problem during conversations. Try to focus on subject and not on language. You have written good english in your questions so I don't think this is a big issue. You have to improve your presentation skills. Try to reassure yourself that there is nothing inferior in you. Before any presentations try to speak in front of mirror and practice regularly. This will increase confidence.

Relaxation therapy, Behaviour therapy by a good psychologist would help to increase confidence and will reduce the anxiety.

Medicines like Beta Blocker drugs as Propranolol or low dose benzodiazepines as Clonazepam etc can help to reduce anxiety in severe anxiety provoking situations. These medicines help to reduce the severe symptoms like rapid heart beat during presentations. For depressive symptoms and inferiority feelings medicines like SSRIs can help. These medicines are commonly used anti anxiety drugs and reduce the anxiety when taken on regular basis. These medicines are safe to use and are free of serious side effects. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription of these drugs.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Try to accept your problem and take proper treatment and follow psychological methods like relaxation exercises and you will see improvement in your symptoms. Don't feel inferior for anything, you are absolutely normal and have nothing that can make you inferior than others.

Take care, if you have more doubts ask again.

Brief Answer:
Anxiety in social situations like presentation or in talking to someone

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking a follow up question

First of all I would like to tell you about Social Anxiety Disorder. It is a type of anxiety disorder in which individuals have intense fear in one or more social situations. It could be fear to talk with strangers, or with seniors, or fear of presentation or fear to talk with opposite gender etc. In these anxiety provoking situations individuals develop fear, blushing of face, tremors, restlessness, palpitations etc symptoms.

The symptoms you are showing like difficulty in asking a question in class, fear of presentation or difficulty in speaking English or shyness in talking to girls etc are part of that disorder only. Various genetic, social, environmental and psychological factors cause such symptoms.

As mentioned earlier also the disorder can be treated with medicines and psychological treatment. With proper medicines you will start regaining confidence in about 4 weeks. With medicines like Propranolol you can reduce the symptoms of severe anxiety in anxiety provoking situations like in presentations or in class. To recover from these symptoms consult a psychiatrist and described your problem in detail. Medicines and relaxation therapy will help in improvement.

You are not able to retain the study materials because you are probably not able to concentrate on a particular thing. Due to this anxiety and depressive features you have started to think about one thing again and again and this has resulted in development of confusion. Your mind is retaining and thinking what should not be retained and is ignoring the studies. Try to divert your mind from feelings of inferiority and you will start REMEMBERING your things.

Thanks hope this helps you.

Brief Answer:
The distraction while studying is due to anxiety only

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking again

See no specific factor has been found that can labelled to be definite cause of social anxiety. Individuals development during childhood, stress during developing years, nutrition, environment at school or at workplace all acts together to increase risk of social anxiety.

The symptoms like sudden distraction while studying or diverted mind while understanding the subject all are occurring due to anxiety only.

I am really sorry but I am out of XXXXXXX for a fellowship and will be available after about three months. You can visit XXXXXXX or GBP Hospital for good psychiatrists there. You will be throughly evaluated for social anxiety and will get good treatment.

Thanks, still have more doubts please ask again.
