Suggest Treatment For Small Bumps On The Cervix

Posted on Sat, 18 Jun 2016
Question: Hi , I am 24 year old sexually non active female(never had penetrative sex ).Fairly regular periods every month and no family history of cancer.
I have experienced a lot of small bumps on my cervix( self examination) on March 28 which came suddenly . On touching them they bled slightly . Then after getting my periods normally on April 5th and when I checked for lumps on April 28th , I couldn't find any and every thing felt normal till 5th May when i again got my cycle and could again feel those lumps today. Though this time i never bled between cycle while touching my cervix. Also I passed a thick tissue looking clot with my period today and back sometimes in past too.
Inbetween I also got an abdominal ultrasound done on March 29 and everything was perfectly normal
I am fairly tensed from past 3 months about it being cervical cancer. If you could help solve my doubt.

Brief Answer:
Cervical cancer is not likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The small bumps that bled slightly on touching could be due to cervicitis or an inflammation of cervix. It is not necessary that the bleeding you had was from the cervix and not from the uterus. In a virgin female it is not likely that you touched the cervix. It must be the vaginal wall with its normal rugosities.
Still it is best to get a PAP smear done to remove the doubt. Since you are a virgin it is best to get the test done after you lose your virginity. Any problem with cervix in a sexually inactive female is not likely.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thanks doctor for your advice . Though I am a virgin but my hymen is not intact as i broke it off sometime in my chidhood because of this internal exam habit or excercise . This happens to possibly be my cervix and I have already consulted a doc here who felt same hardness on cervix and asked for abdominal ultrasound last month which came out to be perfectly normal.
Then she went on and adviced me to go for a pap smear , but i am in doubt regarding the same as i fear it might pain me as i have small vaginal opening ( even doc said so ) . I even doubted to go for one because when i checked cervix after 15 days it felt to be completely normal.
But now as soon as periods arrived I again have those small bumps on cervix .

I am terrified and i feel like I have a bigger disease at hand and I might die. Please advice.

Brief Answer:
Not likely to be anything serious.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If the bumps completely disappeared in between then it is not a serious disease. PAP smear is the best way to confirm this. It is not a painful procedure. If the internal examination did not hurt you then even PAP smear will also not cause any problem.
Hope my answer is helpful.
