Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone throigh your query and i have noted your concern.

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted infection and is acquired by direct sexual contact i.e either vaginal, anal or oral sex with an infected partner. Hsv 2 commonly causes genital herpes. The virus once acquired stays dormant inside the nerves for life and reactivates/ multiplies from time to time to manifest as painful genital sores. It can be passed on subsequently through sexual contact.
I request you to kindly upload a few images of the sores that you notice on husband's penis so that i am able to confirm the possibility. If your husband has had different sexual contacts other than you, it is possible that he may have the infection. However not all genital sores are only due to herpes. You may upload an image either at "Reports Section" Or you may mail me at YYYY@YYYY with the subject line of this mail as Attention:dr.kakkar. Genital herpes commonly presents with multiple, grouped discrete, genital erosions along with pain or burning sensation. An episode of genital herpes usually lasts 5-7 days and resolves without sequelae. It may recur. The frequency of recurrence varies.
