Detailed Answer:

Hi,

In the X-ray, mild enlargement of the adenoids is seen. Adenoids are lymphoid tissue (like tonsils) behind the nose. They may become enlarged due to infection or allergy. This enlarged adenoid will lead to snoring and mouth open during sleep.
In your case, these adenoids are enlarged mildly.

Your son may find relief by taking the following medications:
* Nasal Decongestant drops like Xylometazoline (0.1% 3 drops 3 times a day for 7 days)
* Nasal steroid spray like Mometasone (2 sprays (50 mcg in each spray)) in each nostril once a day (total daily dose of 200 mcg) -this will help against the allergy and also help in reducing the size of enlarged adenoid),
* Oral anti-allergic like Levocetrizine (5mg) once a day for around 10 days.

Also, do steam inhalation. Drink lots of warm fluids. Avoid dust and cold food. Warm turmeric milk daily as it is anti-inflammatory, if possible.

If he has recurrent cold due to allergy, then it is advisable to have an Allergy testing done and to avoid the things found allergic to him.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The above mentioned medicines help against allergy and in de-congestion, which in turn helps in reducing the size of adenoids.
If your child suffers from repeated allergy, then he may need another course of these medicines.

The allergy test is Allergic skin prick test.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I am talking about "Allergy Skin Prick test". Allergic skin prick test is a test conducted to investigate what you are allergic to and how the allergy is characterized. Various allergens are pricked on a part of your body .After about 15 minutes the skin is observed for any red lumps. Your skin may itch where the allergens are placed.

You may google where Allergy Skin testing is done in your city.

IgE is a blood test, not a skin test.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
