Suggest Treatment For Sleep Deprivation Caused By Heart Palpitations And Intermittent Chills

default
Posted on Tue, 20 Oct 2015
Question: Every now and then (and now with more frequency and extended periods) my body feels like it has been poisoned. Cannot express the feeling other than that. I know the OTC pain killers will not fix the feeling. Cannot sleep well, cannot do anything with comfort. I do sleep with CPAP. Best way to to explain: during these periods it feels like deep breathes do no good (like there is something missing, like lake of oxygen), no energy, intermittent accelerated heart beat with no activity (95 - normal 55), intermittent chiles (shaking cold). Intermittent blood pressure acceleration, then very low. I take 2 tablets of HTCZ 12,5/Lisinopril 20 mg daily for blood pressure. Did I mention low energy? Had a difficult time getting out of bed yesterday even though I could not stand to stay there any longer.

I am 72 years old, have always been in good health. A little over weight. Any advise? What's going on? < YYYY@YYYY >

Thank you,
xxxxxxxx

Brief Answer:
Thyroid disorders or anxiety issues requires evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. The symptoms are very vague and I am sure you will also agree.
2. Possible causes, at present I can think of are sleep disturbances affecting body balance, thyroid disorder along with anemia.
3. If tests of thyroid and hemoglobin are done, and sleep is better, further evaluation by a psychiatrist for possible anxiety related causes maybe necessary.
4. Low energy could be attributed to periods of increased anxiety alternating with weaker periods. No medications side effects can be thought of.
5. Anxiety with or without stress appears to be the cause. Ice cream or cold water appears to be anxiety breakers. Get a psychiatrist opinion once to rule out anxiety induced symptoms. Anxiety is not good at this age, especially, the symptoms being shown.

Hope it helps.
