Brief Answer:
Needs ENT consultation, requires antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question, photo and understand your concerns.

I see similar cases amongst young people who visit my clinic, in my opinion you are hypersensitive to savlon and betadine.

I suggest you to to consult ENT surgeon and get nose examination to rule out any abscess. As per photo, it looks cartilage infection. You require oral antibiotics, if necessary dressing. Your treating doctor will decide the type and strength of the antibiotic.

Do not take any self treatment, it may extend as perichondritis(cartilage infection). Avoid water contamination, avoid external trauma.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

But only the skin seems to b affected and my piercing is fine and does not cause me pain.. If the cartilage was infected wont the inside of my nostril hurt too? Its just on the surface and it feels like a burn what degree i donot know.. Shall i just consult a dermatologist first and then proceed from there? If it is a burn or cartilage infection how long will the scarring take to go?

Brief Answer:
Needs antibiotics to prevent scar

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

It is a superficial infection, if you leave, it may extend to nasal cartilage and causes perichondrites.

If you treat superficial infections in early stages, it will not leave any scar.

I suggest you to visit an ent surgeon and get appropriate antibiotics and ointment.

Hi i consulted a doctor and apparently its just superficial and has been diagnosed as contact dermatitis and the cartilage doesn seem to be affected. I have been prescribed to use desowen cream for 5 days and then go back for a follow up.
