Question: I had what I think was a flea bite. I squeezed it and I dont recall why I thought that was necessary. I like to squeeze things. anyway it got red and hard and looked like it had puss in it. so the next day I tried squeezing again. and angered it further, the next day I did get some puss out but it is again angry, red, warm and firm. What should I do besides not squeezing any further?

Brief Answer:
Consult your doctor and take a short course of antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail and seen the pictures attached.
It looks like due to scratching or squeezing the area, an infection has developed locally. Some yellow colored pus can be seen coming out through the small opening at the top. Please do not squeeze further as that can lead to infection of deeper layers of tissue and cellulitis.

I suggest consulting your doctor and taking a short course of antibiotics. For the pain you can take anti inflammatories which are available at a pharmacy. Please avoid scratching or squeezing the area to prevent spread of infection.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.

thank you, I talked to me doctor who prescribed antibiotics. now I have something on my neck that feels similarly, hard, slightly painful, no real discharge. about the size of a quarter. I remember having a pimple there about four days ago. it's it possible these are related?

Brief Answer:
Might be a neck lymph node due to arm infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Its possible that the hard and painful, quarter sized swelling on your neck might be a small lymph node enlargement which has appeared due to the infection. Since you have written that you noticed it only 4 days ago and around the same time there is the infection in your arm, the lymphnode enlargement is in response to the arm infection. Please take complete course of antibiotics, the pain and swelling at the neck should decrease at the end of a week.

Hope your query is answered.
