default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: It feels like my XXXXXXX apple is slightly larger on my right side, and I can XXXXXXX it around. Also, I can move it with out touching it and it makes a crunch sound. When I flex my neck the bottom part of my neck on my right side is larger and harder. My doctor said I have an ear infection, but for six months? I was given amoxilin in May, but that didn't work and waiting for another appointment. Ive had worsening fatigue in the last six months, and people tell me I always look like I feel awful. In the last week I've had shortness of breath. Do you think it could be throat cancer?

Brief Answer:
It's not a symptom of throat cancer...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

1. First of all, I would like to reassure you that this is not a sign or symptom of throat cancer. In fact, in throat cancer the movements are restricted and one cannot move the Adam's apple so freely. Also, there would be change in voice, difficulty in swallowing food and water, weight loss, etc, which you don't have.

2. The reason behind the ear infection not subsiding could be because of the pathology either in the nose or in the Eustachian tube (the tube connecting nose and the ear).

3. Consult a good ENT specialist for a complete evaluation of the nose, ear and throat.

Hope I have answered your query; I'll be available for the follow up queries.
