Brief Answer:
Digestive issue or skeletal issue (Arthritis or osteoarthritis)??

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Although you have not mentioned any other symptoms which would have made it easier to pin point the cause (e.g. difficulty walking, difficulty climbing stairs, abdominal bloating, change in consistency of stool, etc.), I shall go ahead and list some of the most common causes for hip pain. in women.

They are:

+Arthritis of hip joint: If the pain is in the hip region, requiring an x-ray of the hip joint
+Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract: Requiring a physical examination, history and if required even a colonoscopy or endoscopy
+Osteoarthritis of hip joint: Requiring an X-ray of the hip joint
+Pinched nerve: MRI of the hip joint
+Tendonitis: MRI
+Gynecological disorder: Will require elaborate gynecological history, hysterosalpingography, etc.
+Hernia

As you can see ma'am, the conditions vary quite a bit and so I would recommend you to a physician first who would be able to direct you towards the right possible cause based on your initial workup. But given your age, arthritis or osteoarthritis are the most common causes if the source is skeletal, or it could be a digestive issue.

You can choose to take a pain management medication and either Ranitidine or Omeprazole 15 minutes before each meal until your doctors appointment and rest that side of the hip as much as possible.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
