Question: I have sharp pain in my upper back around bottom of sholder blade when I cough take deep breaths sneeze or bend over, going from a sitting to a standing position or visit versa. Laying down the pain is constant. It is causing me to have shortness of breath, I have copied and use 3 puffers: Spiriva Respimat 2.5MCG 2 puffs once daily. Florent HFA 250mcg. 1 puff twice daily and Vento line HFA 100mcg. 2 puffs when needed.
This pain has been bothering me since Thursday am, I noticed it when getting out of bed. It has slowly gotten worse with today sat being the worst yet.
I first thought maybe I pulled a muscle at work lifting some steel fire pits from the ground to the back of the truck. I didn't notice anything wrong at the time had no pain in the in the upper back or any other indication something would be wrong. Had a relaxed Wednesday evening and night. Then Thursday this all started. Today is the worst as breathing in causes the sharp at times unbearable pain. There is a steady constant ache that worsens with breathing in and movements.
I'm hope you may be able to shead so light on what may be causing this problem.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern
By your history and description, possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more.
Your pain is associated with movements and specific positions. This is characteristic feature of musculoskeletal pain.
But we should first rule out lung related causes like pneumonia because you are having breathlessness also.
So first get done chest x ray. If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry for pneumonia.
Musculoskeletal pain is more likely.
So apply warm water pad on affected areas. Avoid movements causing pain. Avoid bad postures in sleep. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. Take painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
But first get done chest x ray.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
