Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In The Lower Back Area

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Jan 2017
Question: A few days ago I bent down and felt like rubber band snap. Sharp lower back pain. Has not gone away. Radiates to legs and feet sometimes neck. If I stand a long time I get numbness (tingling) in my feet and dull pain in abdomin.

Today headache and right eye twitch.

I think slipped disc. I do not need referral from pcp. Should I see neurologist or orthopedic?

Brief Answer:
Need to see a orthopedic doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank your for posting the query.

I have gone through your question in detail and understand your concern

From the history,it seems to be a slipped disc for sure.
You need to consult a orthopaedic surgeon at the earliest and get Xray / MRI of lumbar spine done.

Till then, using a lumbar back support brace will help alleviate pain.

Take rest,do not bend forward or lift anything heavy.
Take analgesics anti inflammatory tablets like ibuprofen, tramadol etc.
Methycobalamin with pregabalin tablets will help.
Apply local analgesic gel followed by hot fomentation.

The headache and right eye twitch does not seem to be related to the slipped disc and needs evaluation from a physician.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any doubts that may have.

Thank you.

Best regards.
