Question: Dear Dr,

My son is 2 years old. 3 days ago, shortly after he wake up in the morning , he started to vomit. All he vomitted was clear sticky liquid . For the first 6 hours he was vomitting after every one hour. Once we replenish him with water he will vomit again.

We brought him to the GP. There was no fever and the dr said that it is common and not stomach flu. He advise us not to give him water for a day. Only h2o drink or vanilla ice cream. We followed anyway . He was crying in hunger that night we gave him some formula though . The following day my son was ok , and back to his lively usual self . We started to fed him with formula and his regular meals. Everything seemed well.

One the third day after waking up from his noon nap, we gave him some cereal , nothing extra add. He seemed uneasy and after awhile he started throwing up again . We also realize his tummy is very bloated after half his usual meal. May I know what went wrong ? We are very worried .

His meals were normal. He does not have fever etc . But he felt sick after vommitting. Pls advise

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to food poisoning.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.

I have gone carefully through the details. ORS (Oral rehydration solution) is the mainstay of treatment and needs to be given. Give him cleaner water. Also give some antiemetic like ondansetron syrup preferably before meals. Give Lanzol Junior (lansoprazole) tablet once daily. I am sure that he would soon be fine.

Brief Answer:
Please be patient.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the update. It is good to know that he is no longer throwing up. Please be patient. He might still be having some abdominal cramps which might be the possible reason of this crying in the middle of the night. I would suggest you to wait and watch. Hopefully things would be back to normal soon.

Regards
