Question: Hi, for past 2 weeks I have been having severe upper leg and butt pain, like cramps. I can hardly walk. I have been drinking a bit more alcohol than normal, could there be a correlation?

The alcohol could be a factor here since you may have a vitamin B6 or folate or magnesium deficiency, but this could also be a disc problem in your lumbar spine with either spinal cord or nerve root compression.

Potassium deficiency could also be involved.

You need to see a doctor for an exam, blood work, and, if warranted, an MRI scan of your lumbar spine
