Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Get your throat re-examined and a throat swab sent for bacterial culture and sensitivity.

2. If the throat appears better, give the current medication 48 to 72 hours to work. You may add Betadine Gargles and Mucaine Gel.

3. If it appears worse and the pain is severe, get admitted for I.V. medication. Injectable painkillers will allow you to swallow without severe pain and bring down the fever. Repeat the blood tests and compare the WBC and platelet counts.

4. This seems to be a viral infection with a super-added bacterial infection.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Have only warm liquids and ORS (Oral Rehydration Syrup) today.

2. The retching (feeling like vomiting) may be due to gastritis caused by swallowing the phlegm, not being able to eat or due to the medication.

3. You may require an anti-vomiting medication tomorrow an hour before food (such as Ondem MD / ondensetron 4 mg, mouth dissolving). However you should inform your doctor before taking this or if there is any vomiting.

4. Food should be bland. Kichdi is fine.

5. Your blood tests are consistent with your symptoms. The image of the chest X-ray is not clear, but seems fine.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
