default
Posted on Fri, 27 Jan 2017
Question: I have diffuse shoulder pain. I can play tennis but have trouble raising my arm for serves and overheads. the pain has persisted for three weeks. It runs up my neck and is not limited at all to the joint itself. Although I have a brief history of some arthritis, it feels more diffuse. I am 60 years old and take meds for high blood pressure and glaucoma. Is fibromyalgia a possibility or tendenitis or arthritis? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Get MRI of shoulder joint.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

From these symptoms, it seems you're having tendinitis and arthritis both.

But for exact diagnosis to be made get MRI of your shoulder joint and send me the report.

Till then have Cap. Rabeprazole 20mg twice daily on empty stomach (before breakfast and dinner), Tab. Serratiopeptidase15mg thrice a day, Cap. Pregabalin 75mg+ Methylcobalamine 750mcg at night (please obtain the necessary prescription from your local doctor).

You can apply painkiller ointment containing Diclofenac twice daily over the area for the time being.

Avoid tennis for a few days, instead do physiotherapy.

Apply hot packs.

One thing more important is that, if you have painful movements of neck, then you have to get X-ray of cervical spine in AP and Lateral additionally (if no such painful movements otherwise, then no need to have this).

I hope it helps. Feel free to ask further.

Thanks,

Dr.CHANDER XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
