Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Ribs

default
Posted on Sat, 23 Jul 2016
Question: Approximately 6 weeks ago, I sneezed and felt a pop in my left rib cage and excruciating pain on my left side with muscle spasms throughout my ribs. I went to the er and they did a chest x-ray and determined that I had not dislocated or otherwise injured my ribs, but the radiologist noticed that I did have some scarring from a severe bout of pneumonia and several healed rib fractures (I fell down the stairs several years ago, but two separate x-rays several weeks apart did now show any fractures). However, they felt my lungs were in good shape other than the scar tissue. Fast forward to this week when I went for my annual physical and my dr ordered a chest x-ray and the next day the office called and wanted me to have a CT scan as there was something of "concern". Due to my asthma, I have had a chest x-ray on a near yearly basis for the last few years and all of those have been clear, so why is my primary doc sending me for a CT scan now? Should I be worried or hopefully, my doctor is just being very attentive and cautious? Also, other than my usual allergy induced asthma, I have no pulmonary issues.

Brief Answer:
I think there can be a hair line fracture or a calcium shadow in lung

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. I think you must be having some coin shape lesion in lung or there can be hair line fracture in ribs.In both condition there is no need to be worried. I think your doctor wants to be hundred percent sure and so he has advised a CT.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is a any other followup questions.
Thanks
