Question: Son 4years,14 kgs, complains of pain on belly button since a few weeks. It started after he was accidentally hit on his belly while playing with his sister. He is active, eating food properly and his motions are normal. We consulted a doctor who checked by pressing the abdominal area but no pain was observed.Today,he complained again while eating. What do you suggest as a further investigation?

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through your query. Your son's problem seems to be due to gastritis. In other words, the problem seems to be more likely to be due to the stomach acids rather than due to any inadvertent injury.

In order to relieve him, you need to ask him do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Give Lanzol Junior tablet (lansoprazole) once daily before breakfast.
* Give plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna. I would insist you to increase your dietary fiber intake.
* Regular playing or exercise for at 1 hour a day to keep the bowel movements proper.
* Give curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.

Hope that helps. I do not think that further investigation would help. However, if apprehensive you can get an ultrasound of whole abdomen done.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
