Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Legs

default
Posted on Tue, 30 May 2017
Question: I'm experiencing severe pain on the soles of my feet. Also, burning eyes, joint and upper back muscle soreness, panting of breath, painful to yawn, can't expand chest, slight phlegm. Felt this before like when you're about to come down with the flu, but the super tender bottoms of my feet? I can hardly walk. Ouch! I'm 61, 6'1", 210, good general shape, don't smoke, drink rarely and seldom get sick. Any opinion?

Brief Answer:
GOUT vs severe vitamin/calcium deficiency

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

From the symptoms,it seems that you may be having severe vitamin (especially B12) and/or calcium deficiency. This gives rise to neuritis of the peripheral nerves causing inflammation and pain all over the body, especially, the soles of feet, back muscles, eyes etc.

Another possibility is of hyperuricemia/Gout. In this condition, serum uric acid levels are raised.

I suggest you to get your detailed blood check up done, including uric acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin D / calcium levels.

Temporarily, you can start on multivitamin and vitamin D/calcium supplements.
You can take anti-inflammatory ,analgesic tablets like ibupfofen/tramadol for pain relief.

If the uric acid levels are found to be raised, then you can take uric acid lowering medicines like colchicine, allopurinol, febuxostat etc.

Do let me know once the blood reports are ready.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
Kind regards.
