Brief Answer:
Swollen vein, pain and headache, need more information

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX thanks for asking from HCM.
I've seen the attached image.

I can understand your concern. The pain on left side of head can be due to many reasons like

- Migraine
- Superficial temporal arteritis
- left eye disease like Glaucoma
- left frontal sinusitis
- left eye muscle spasm
I need detailed history of headache like what type of pain? what is the area of pain? Is there any radiation of pain? Any history of associated vomiting, eye pain, watering from eyes or redness? Any heaviness on frontal region left side?

Now regarding that prominent vein on left side, that is normal at his age. The vein was always there but it became visible at this time due to thinning of skin as age progresses. The tinning of skin occurs with age due to collagen degeneration. This leads to visible veins. You can confirm it by observing other lean-thin elderly people.

What is to be worried about, is -

- If there is redness or bluish discoloration
- Is there any swelling at that area
- Any pain at focal point with some discharge

For pain, if you want to consult doctor, you should consult neurologist. He/she will examine him and advise acordingly about investigations and differential diagnosis.

If you want to know any further doubts, please let me know.
Thanks. Take care
