Question: My son is 18 and had titanium rods put in his broken femurs 6 months ago. He is still in daily pain and has been on opiates since for pain. Now he is addicted to the opiates and wants more and more frequently for the pain. I want to have the rods removed. the bones are healed. He is very skinny with hardly any fat on his legs and hips. "The knees and hips hurt all the time where the screws are at.
Will he still have the same pain if he has the rods taken out now.

After the broken bones have healed radiologically the implants- rods can be taken out. The pain will decrease after taking out the screws and rods.
Since he has become an addict it is even more important for him to get the implants removed.
