Brief Answer:
Neck collar is not recommended for you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

I understand your concern. The treatment you are on is for migraine. Neck pain can be due to bad posture. As your treating doctor has advised you should do neck exercises like rotation, head tilting, up and down.

Cervical collar only rarely helps individuals. It is mainly a reminder not to move your neck in cases like slip discs. In your case neck exercise is needed for you. So I would not recommend you to use a neck collar.

I hope this answered your query.

Even after doing neck exercise, I have severe pain. If the reason was due to bad posture, I am working in front of the computer for the whole day. I cant sit in straight position or so for the whole day. I want a good suggestion how to relieve out of this neck pain. Kindly suggest.

Brief Answer:
Try home remedies and visit an orthopedician.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

Yes neck pain is common among professionals working in front of computer.

You can try these remedies:

- Apply ice for the first few days. After that, apply heat with a heating pad, hot compress, or by taking a hot shower.

- Exercise your neck every day. Slowly stretch your head in side-to-side and up-and-down motions.

- Change your position often. Don’t stand or sit in one position for too long.

- Get a gentle neck massage.

- Use a special neck pillow for sleeping.

- Sitting posture :
* Eyes should point directly at the top third of the screen.
* Forearms should be approximately parallel with the floor when typing.
* Elbows should be at the side.
* Feet should be flat on the floor with the thighs parallel with the floor.

- Every half an hour to one hour you should exercise your neck.

If your symptoms worsens it is best to meet an orthopedician for a detailed examination and treatment.

I hope this answered your query.
