Question: Hi Doc,

From past one week my blood pressure has come down. I have visited a doctor and they are taking the readings of my bp everyday. for the past three days the reading shows 80/40. I have been experiencing severe neck pain and headaches I take multivitamin supplements (Riconia LP), Omega 3 fatty acids(nature made), celin 500 mg and becosules everyday. I eat very healthy diet which includes 4 servings of fruits and vegetables. I drink 5 liters of water everyday. There is no blood loss in any way but there has been emotional pressure in personal life. What can i do to overcome the low blood pressure?

Thank you so much in advance.

Regards,

Brief Answer:
High water intake

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

This seems to be due to high water intake. According to recent international guidelines, water intake should be guided by thirst. It is not must to take atleast 5 liters water. Secondly the water has to be clean

Among supplements, omega3 fatty acids can have side effects and should not be taken unnecessarily.

So my suggestions are as follows:
- take water only when thirsty, amount should be just enough to satisfy thirst
- in blood test, get electrolyte levels done
- take lemonade with salt or ORS when you feel low BP, dizzy
- As low BP can cause dizziness, be careful to not make sudden movements
- discontinue omega 3 fatty acids
- for emotional pressure, it can affect your heart. Get an ECG done. Also try yoga and meditation to get emotional balance. Online meditations are available.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
