Suggest Treatment For Severe Lower Leg Cramps

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Jul 2016
Question: Hello:
I have severe lower leg cramps that wake me up; I'm desperate and sometimes cry, rub my leg, take a couple of Homeopathic "Leg Cramp" tablets. They last 10-15 minutes, leaving me absolutely exhausted and fearful of more cramps. (I'm 75, have well-controlled type 2 diabetes and had a femoral artery embolus in 2001).

Brief Answer:
Improving leg blood flow might help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
With your history of diabetes and femoral artery embolus, your cramps are probably due to decreased blood flow and accumulation of metabolites. You could try ginkgo biloba which is known to improve blood circulation and vitamin E which is a good antioxidant are likely to help you.

Brief Answer:
Available as food supplement. Brands may be equally good.

Detailed Answer:
Ginkgobiloba is often sold as a food supplements and there are many brands available. Some of my patients with blood flow problems have reported good result with Ginkgoplus from Foreverliving. The dose is one tablet twice a day.
Others i suppose are equally good. See what is available near you.
