Question: Hi My daughter is 9 years old she has suffered with significant leg pains for the last two years is often very cold on the inside but hot on the outside and now has gained approx 4-5kgs in the last four months

I mean to ask whether they involve the calf or whether it is at the end of long bones (near the joints). I assume it is the latter and in that case it is likely to be growing pain. This is a very rapid growing phase for girls and the weight gain in this phase is very positive and is to be encouraged. There is not the slightest reason to worry about. In fact it is a good thing.

In case you are still apprehensive I would insist you to get her thyroid profile checked. I would also insist you to give her juicy fruits like citrus fruits as they contain plenty of potassium. You also need to ensure a wholesome diet in this phase.
