Question: I have intense aching/pressure in both my knees. It is actually below my knee cap in the center. I have had these symtons since I was about 9 yrs old, I am 57 yrs now and over the last few years it has gotten so bad nothing I do brings any relief. Can't sit or stand walking is of no help. When it starts it can last for hours on one knee and then go to the other knee just like that. It's always been that way but the pressure and aching are unbearable now. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
Patellofemoral arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

It is possible you could be suffering from Patellar tendinitis along with Patellofemoral arthritis if they're is cracking sound on flexing and extending the knee.

Apply hot packs to the affected region. Avoid flexing the knee much. Avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, climbing stairs and kneeling.

Take Tablet Acetaminophen 500mg thrice a day. Perform Physiotherapy to strengthen the Quadriceps muscle.

Get an Xray of the knee AP, Lateral and Skyline views to look for signs of arthritis.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
