I can understand your concern for skin disease of your husband. As you said your husband developed hives twice in last 5 days. It may be acute urticaria. The wheals occur anywhere on the body with severe to mild itching and burning. The wheals might subside with or without treatment and might recur. This is the characteristic feature of the urticaria. It is of short duration, it may be considered as acute urticaria. And we should find out some cause. There may be some triggering factor.

I would like to know few things related to your husband...

- any habit of smoking,tobbacco chewing or beverage taking
- any history of insect bite
- history of walking in grass,garden or dusty road before development of hives
- history of exercise
- history of exposure to heat
- history of any drugs besides regular drugs.. Please mention all drugs name
- history of other disease like rhinitis or pharyngitis
- history food taken before hives
- history of worms
- history of allergy to any thing
- history of application on skin..cosmetic, deoderant, soap, perfume or balm
- tell about hotel environment... Hill area, forest area

After getting knowledge about above queries, I can guide you in managing your husband's disease. If possible have blood tests, related liver and kidney. Renal function test and liver function test along with TC, DC, ESR, AEC, RBS.

For yourself, itching you have may be due to dryness. You may apply moisturing cream after bath. And you may take levocetirizine 5 mg at night.

Hi,

Welcome back..

It seems that your husband might be having acute urticaria. The lesions are subsided at present and that may be due to treatment taken by him..antihistaminic atarax and Benadryl.

If the lesions recur, you consult dermatologist and have investigations.

He might suggest fexofenadine or desloratidine for few weeks. And if needed, short course of steroids may be advised.

And for you, most probably you may be having contact allergic dermatitis.there may be some cause..soap,water,dust or some other.

I would like to suggest you as follow..
- apply mild steroid cream on lesions of allergy twice a day
- on sore or infected area,apply antibiotic cream
- for itchiness, take antihistaminics like levocetirizine once a day
- steroid tab in tappering dose would improve the disease
- avoid soap bath
- and avoid contacts with suspected allergens
- you may also consult dermatologist personally for firm diagnosis and treatment
