Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: I am a 38 yr old female... I have been suffering from severe, debilitating hip pain for at least nine months... I recently got CT scan of pelvic area and abdominal view. I also had x-rays of hips done. The report says for the CT scan, advanced lower lumbar facet osteoarthosis. The x-rays advise, soft tissue calcification at the superior lateral left acetabular margin, likely the labrum. The lateral views demonstrate subchondral cysts in the bilateral proximal femur at the head and neck, indicating chronic impaction syndrome. The posterior lateral right acetabular margin shows subchondral cyst and minimal sclerosis. There is mild chronic spurring at the pubic symphasis.
I haven't had any injuries. I am not very active.... Altho I used to be very active in high school /college and for a while after.
I have had injections but nothing helps my hip pain... And it's getting worse and now constantly also hurts around the front of the pelvis area. Not sure what to do or who to go to from here? What does all this mean?

Brief Answer:
You have degenerative changes in spine and hips.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You are having osteoarthritis and degenerative changes in lumbar spine, hips and other parts. These are age related changes but your case these has appeared early.Glucosamine is helpful in relieving the symptoms. Analgesic such as ibuprofen is helpful in relieving pain. It may require hip replacement if x changes are more severe. I can serve you better if you can upload your x rays. You can consult local orthopaedician for your treatment. These all means degenerative changes are there.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
