Suggest Treatment For Severe Headaches And Fatigue

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Dec 2016
Question: I have been told by my Doctor that a Candida overgrowth is not real. So I'm really not sure what is going on. I have a strong urge to eat sweets. With the holidays, there are a lot of sweets around. So it seems that I eat too many sweets and then I crash. My symptoms are: severe headache, loss of appetite, severe fatigue and an overall feeling horrible. I ate way too many sweets during Thanksgiving and I have felt bad since the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I have had blood work done and I'm fine. My Doctor did say that I was borderline Diabetic though. Please help me. My husband is at a loss and I hate feeling like this during the holidays. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Tests

Detailed Answer:
Sorry to learn about your bothersome symptoms.

There could be other reasons for your symptoms such as thyroid problems.
When I see someone like you in my practice, I typically order the following blood tests in addition to a detailed physical examination:

CBC (Complete Blood Count, also known as Hemogram; includes Hemoglobin, WBC and Platelet counts)
Electrolytes (Sodium and Potassium in particular)
HbA1c (Glycosylated Hemoglobin = your last 3 months' glucose average). Also known by other names such as GlycoHemoglobin or Glycated Hemoglobin or A1c
Liver function tests (SGOT , SGPT, Albumin, Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase)
Kidney function tests (BUN, Creatinine)
TSH (checks your thyroid)
25 hydroxy Vitamin D levels (ideal range 40 to 60 ng/ml = 100 to 150 nmol/liter)
Fasting Lipid profile (after 12 hours overnight fast)
Correct diagnosis and treatment requires the opportunity to examine the patient so you must see an endocrinologist in-person.
