Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea

Question: I am a 71 year old woman. Two nights ago I had a couple normal bowel movements except the stool was paler than usual and somewhat floaty. This was followed by diahrrea (8-9 bowel movements) that night same color. I've had much milder diahrrea since, same color. No previous liver or gallbladder sx. I don't drink. No stomach pain or vomiting. I could have been exposed to dirty chicken egg germs and undercooked swordfish in the day prior to this. How long should I wait before going to the doctor about this?

Brief Answer:
take adequate fluid and electral powder

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for putting your query in HCM.

In my opinion it nay take 2 to 3 days to settle. I will advise you to take adequate fluid and electral powder to prevent flyid and electrolyte insufficiency. Also take a course of probiotic. Avoid milk. Get your stool examination and complete haemogram to see for any bacterial infection. In case it does not improve in 2 to 3 days then you may visit your doctor who may advise a course of antibiotic.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Wish you a good health
