Suggest Treatment For Severe Dehydration

default
Posted on Tue, 18 Aug 2015
Question: I am 50 years old and in good health. No medications except for Prilosec or nexium daily.

Yesterday, I didn't feel well but carried on by taking my son to a soccer match, where it was 90 degrees or more. I got progressively worse, but I can't describe the symptoms other than sleepiness and a general rotten feeling.

Making the 2.5 hour trip home, we stuck in traffic and my car overheated several times. AC quit working, so I was in the severe heat for 8 hours.

I went to bed early but only slept til 2am. Went back to sleep at 7am and have slept off and on all day. Still feel awful with no particular symptoms.

I've drunk clear liquids since I got home last night, but my thirst hasn't gone away. My mouth is pasty even right after I drink water.
I'm not taking any medicine yesterday or today.

What should I do?

Brief Answer:
You need more liquids.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this unhealthy feeling that you have reported. I have reviewed your information fully and think you were very much dehydrated. I will suggest that you continue drinking as much liquids as you can. To tell whether you are drinking enough, watch out for how often you use the bathroom for urination. Otherwise, there is no immediate symptom or any other concern that raises the possibility of another possible disease condition beyond dehydration. You may also report how often you use the bathroom to me for assessment.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you. I also wanted to mention that I checked my blood pressure yesterday. It was 113/81. After I asked my first question, I checked my temperature and it was 101.5.

I took 2 Advil PM at 10pm, and I am feeling better.

Hi,

Your temperature is not too normal. I will like that you take another reading in 4-6years and report to me. This way, I will review and make sure we are not missing out on anything.
