Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome back on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that costochondritis could be exacerbated by an infection of the upper respiratory ways, because it may be triggered from cough and sneezing.

All viral infections can lead to muscle pain and joint pain. From the other hand, as your symptoms seem to be related to an infection of the upper respiratory ways, they could also lead to complications like bronchitis or pleuritis.

But I would exclude any cardiac disorder related to this symptomatology.

So, relax and don't worry about it!

Do you have fever?

I recommend taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen for the pain for some days.

If your symptoms persist, I would recommend consulting with your doctor for a physical exam and some tests:

- a chest X ray study
- a sinus X ray study for sinus infection
- complete blood count
- PCR, ESR.

Hope to have been helpful!

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask me!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
