1. Give the child steam inhalation. Put a bowl of steaming water before you with the child on your lap. The water vapour will be in the air and automatically the child will breathe it in. Crying will not obstruct the process. Water in the form of vapour will reach deep into the lungs and help in diluting the cough and give her relief. This is the home alternative of nebulisation which should give her relief.
2. You may give the child Syrup Ascoril LS 2.5 ml twice daily for next few days. It has an antiallergic which is required in such cases. It will also take care of the runny nose.
3. Keep the child warm and clean.
Take these measures and see if things improve. If you feel the condition is worsening or the child is becoming lethargic, please take the child to a pediatrician who can examine the child and take appropriate steps if necessary.
