Question: Dear Sir,

My Mother is having Left side Shoulder/Back Pain from past 3 months.i'm not sure what we should do for this.Could you please suggest the remedies and root cause for the same.

Recently i had a Cardiac package test for my mother Cardiologist mentioned everything seems to be fine attached the report for the same.

My mother is having sugar from XXXXXXX 12 years just wanted to confirm if sugar is more whether we would get pain in back .HBa1c is 8.9 as attached in the report.

Could you please review the report and let us know if anything is causing the Left side Shoulder/Back Pain.Should we do any X-rays or diagnosis to find the reason

Brief Answer:
Get a X ray lumbar spine done .

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem , I would like to tell you that seeing all the reports , it seems that its the degenerative arthritis that is troubling your mother which is the cause of back pain and it would have lead to compression of nerve by protruded discs that is causing pain . For that an x ray whole spine , AP and Lat. needs to be done . An MRI would be more specific but a costly investigation . Diabetes itself would not lead to pain but can speed up the degenerative process . Also for shoulder pain it can be beginning of frozen shoulder which the diabetics are very likely to have . For that a clinical examination and Ultrasound of the affected shoulder joint should be done .

Take care.

Thankyou very much for looking in to all reports and your reply.
We would do X ray lumbar spine done as suggested by you.As mentioned by you that it could be degenerative arthritis jsut wanted to confirm whether this would be tehre in Shoulder as well?.Currently my Mother is having arthritis of left leg does it mean it would come to shoulder also.
It would be great if you suggest the home remedies for degenerative arthritis like diet or type o exercises.
Also as mentionedf by you it can be beginning of frozen shoulder if that is the case what would be options doe we need to do any surgery or can be cured by Home Made remedies or Diet.
Thanyou very much for your suggestion.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Yes shoulder pain can also be due to degenerative changes . If its frozen shoulder , then it depends on the extent of involvement , like in early stages it can be cured by physiotherapy or may be a simple cortisone shot along with strict control of diabetes . Surgery is not required generally . Also degenerative changes are age related and cant be cured by diet or exercise . Maintaining healthy weight is important for such arthritis .
